At the heart of the instrument are the bars made from Palisono, a fibreglass-reinforced material developed by Sonor. Unlike wood, Palisono barely reacts to changes in temperature and humidity – tuning stays reliable whether in a classroom or on tour. The 19 bars (38 x 15 mm) are tuned in C major with the additional half-tones f#1, b1, f#2 and b2, with overtone tuning up to c#2 and root tuning from d2 upward – for a clear sound that blends well in an ensemble.

Resonator box for a full, warm tone

The four-chamber resonator box made of pine delivers a full, carrying tone and noticeably enhances the timbre of the Palisono bars. The xylophone stays present and cuts through even in larger ensembles and reverberant rooms.
