Playing Feel

GrandTouch-E™ keyboard. The GrandTouch-E™ keyboard responds in finely graded fashion to the way you play and conveys the natural feel of an acoustic upright piano. Synthetic ivory and ebony key surfaces provide a secure grip; the escapement mechanism reproduces the characteristic sensation at the end of the key travel – for a balance of rapid repetition and precise response.

Pedal operation. All three pedals (damper, sostenuto, soft) respond precisely. The damper pedal features a half-pedal function for sensitive control of how long the sound is sustained.

Sound

The sound of a concert grand piano. ARIUS pianos use samples of Yamaha's flagship CFX concert grand piano and deliver an expressive, richly coloured sound across all registers. The 2× 20 W stereo amplifier and two 12 cm speakers with diffuser grilles deliver a full, immersive sound.

Clear sound that carries further. The new diffuser grille makes high notes clearer even from a distance and ensures a balanced sound from bass to treble.

Realistic resonance simulation. Virtual Resonance Modeling Lite (VRM Lite) realistically reproduces the complex string and body resonances of a grand piano. The Stereophonic Optimizer creates a natural, spatial sound distribution even when playing with headphones.

Design

The YDP-166 in the White Birch version fits harmoniously into any living space with its elegant lines and classic piano design. Gently rounded corners and well-considered safety features make it suitable for all ages.

Digital Features

Helpful functions. Numerous functions make practising and playing easier: many preset songs, a metronome, 2-track recording and an automatic volume control for comfortable listening through headphones.

Bluetooth®. Connect the piano wirelessly to your smartphone or tablet – to play along with your favourite songs or to use it as a speaker.

Smart Pianist app. With the free Smart Pianist app you can conveniently control voices and settings from your smart device, display sheet music and record.
