Anyone looking for a trumpet from the GEWA Vision line quickly runs into three similar-sounding model names: TR172, TR272 and TR372. All three are Bb trumpets with the same medium-large ML bore, a gold brass leadpipe and stainless steel valves, so the basic tonal character is closely related. The difference lies in the construction, from the single-piece valve casing of the entry model to the two-piece construction with nickel silver outer slides of the two higher models.
This comparison ranks the three models by build and target player, making the choice within the line easier.
01What all three models have in common
TR172, TR272 and TR372 share the technical foundation of the Vision line. All three are Bb trumpets with a medium-large ML bore of .460 inches (11.68 mm), a bore width that combines an agreeably light response with sufficient sound volume, making it suitable for both beginners and advanced players. The leadpipe on all three models is gold brass, giving the tone a warm, soft character, and the two-piece brass bell consistently has a diameter of 120 mm with a wire-reinforced rim.
The action is built the same way on all three models too: stainless steel valves with aluminium valve stems run smoothly, a thumb saddle on the first slide and a finger ring on the third slide allow fine intonation correction while playing, and two water keys keep the instrument dry. All three models ship with a GEWA 3C mouthpiece and a gig bag, ready to play straight out of the box. The Gewa Germany Vision TR172 B-Trompete – ML-Bohrung & Goldmessing-Mundrohr in Goldlack, inkl. Gig Bag and the GEWA Germany Vision TR272 B-Trompete – ML-Bohrung & Goldmessing-Mundrohr, Edelstahl-Ventile inkl. Mundstück show this shared foundation particularly clearly when compared side by side.
02TR172: the entry point with single-piece valve casings
The TR172 is the entry model of the line and is aimed at students, returning players and hobby musicians who want a reliable instrument for the first years. The main construction difference from the other two models lies in the valve casings: on the TR172 they are single-piece brass, a simpler and sturdy build well suited to everyday school and band use. The standard finish is gold lacquer; the TR172 in the Vision line is also available in matte gold lacquer, a vintage finish or silver-plated.
For music lessons, youth orchestra or practising at home, the Gewa Germany Vision TR172 B-Trompete – ML-Bohrung & Goldmessing-Mundrohr in Goldlack, inkl. Gig Bag offers a complete, everyday-ready package without unnecessary technical complexity.
03TR272 and TR372: two-piece valve casings and nickel silver outer slides
TR272 and TR372 share a construction tier above the TR172: both models have two-piece valve casings in brass and nickel silver instead of the entry model's single-piece brass casing, plus nickel silver outer slides. In practice this makes the action more refined, and it is the same build found on higher-tier trumpets. The GEWA Germany Vision TR272 B-Trompete – ML-Bohrung & Goldmessing-Mundrohr, Edelstahl-Ventile inkl. Mundstück is aimed at ambitious beginners and advanced players who want a finer action from the start or after the first few years.
The Gewa Germany Vision TR372 B-Trompete – ML-Bohrung & Goldmessing-Mundrohr, Edelstahl-Ventile carries this construction forward and adds a soldered, wire-reinforced bell rim, a detail improvement aimed at durability under intensive practice and performance use. This positions it as the model for club and orchestra players with the highest demands on build quality within the line.
| Model | Valve casings | Notable feature | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| TR172 | single-piece, brass | gold lacquer, gig bag included | beginners and returning players |

04Which model fits which level
For a straightforward start at music school or in a band, where durability and a fair build come first, the TR172 is the natural choice. Anyone who already knows the trumpet will be played for longer than the first few years, or who as an advanced player wants a finer action, will find the right middle step in the TR272. For club and orchestra players with the highest demands on build quality within the line, the TR372 is the logical step up.
